Advances in the visa project: reconstruction, interpretation and visualization
of volumetric images from eiscat_3d data

by Juan Araújo, Department of Science and Mathematics Education, Umeå University

We present an interactive approach for the exploration and visualization of
high resolution ionospheric data expected from EISCAT_3D. The proposed strategy
allows for the reconstruction of ionospheric volume images by means of a novel
sparse interpolation algorithm tailored for the particular features of ISR
data. The interpolation offers estimation of gradients and processing of
missing data using multi-core processing. Through real-time visualization, our
framework will enable a fast decision making during EISCAT_3D monitoring
process. In the talk we will describe the proposed visualization module for the
rendering and interactivity with the ISR data.
