Modelling Titan's ionosphere

Student: Karin Ågren
Supervisor:  Jan-Erik Wahlund

Swedish Institute of Space Physics, Uppsala
Department of Astronomy and Space Physics, Uppsala University

Background

Cassini is a NASA spacecraft orbiting Saturn since 2004. We have developed, manufactured and delivered the Langmuir probe instrument onboard, which is particularly useful for studying Titan's ionized upper atmospheric layers during the numerous Cassini flybys of Titan. To put the data in a scientific context, they must be compared to theory and models.

Project

Model Titan's ionosphere during the Cassini flyby on April 16, 2005 (known as T5).

Results

Schedule

The project ran August 2005 -- February 2006.
